Austrian Wedding In The Vorarlberg Bregenzer Forrest

Austrian Wedding In The Vorarlberg Bregenzer Forrest by Madalina Sheldon

I don't like using words for my photographs. I want my images to tell the story and translate the atmosphere. I am a photographer, not a writer. But for those who wish for more background on this wedding, let me tell you, when beauty meets love and joy, for a people photographer as me, a paradise unfolds.

Nina & Michael filled their day with laughter and love and everybody joining them, did the same. Yes, this couple has a keen eye for beauty and details - they had a vision and clear expectation for their big day. But they didn't forget the reason they planned this event: Making a big promise and enjoying the presence of their families and friends.

After one of the most beautiful religious ceremonies I whitnessed in a cozy church in Schwarzenberg, the cocktail hour and reception took place at the classy and rich in history Gasthof Hirschen.

Blown away by the beauty of this area, I did my best capturing the surroundings, but still: If you ever get the chance to visit the Vorarlberg area in Austria, please don't miss it!

Family Portrait

Creating family memories

After many years of staging beauty in different shoots, I have the urge to create more honest images. Images with meaning to someone, somewhere, an especially someday. Observing a family and allowing  everything to unfold, not only makes your heart full, but also reminds you that beautiful imagery means taking your time to see with empathy and passivity. Although I am a photographer, I am spending more time observing my subject, understanding the light and colour I see rather than giving instructions or editing images. In fact, I reduced the amount of photographs I take to a minimum asking myself each time I press the button: Is this meaningful? Is this relevant? Is this beautiful. Almost 100% are keepers. This feels right... I am thanking Michelle, who is an extremely talented photographer herself, having me in their home and allowing me to photograph her family.
